You Need a Mobile Responsive Website

Do you browse the internet on a mobile device?  You know that smartphone you’re constantly looking at. Isn’t it sooo much more convenient? It’s clearly no secret that mobile phone usage has skyrocketed in the last few years.  So it should come as no surprise that a website NEEDS to have a mobile responsive design.

A responsive website in its simplest terms is a site that will automatically remodel and format itself to the device it is being viewed on.  Responsiveness is built into the core structure of a website and reacts to the screen size of whichever device is being used. It scales down a lot of the elements on a page making for a more efficient web experience. This flexibility ensures the customer journey stays consistent on a phone, tablet, notebook or PC.

The Future of the Internet is Mobile

mobile responsiveness

Mobile has now surpassed desktop as the main way of browsing on the web. Given the recent and continuing boom in smart phone ownership all websites need to adapt.  In a world where so much traffic comes from mobile devices, it’s important that you’re accommodating all of the different devices out there.

Simply stated, your customers and potential customers are not completely bound to their desks looking for you. They are on the go, driving or walking around town with their eyes on their phones instead of their surroundings.  Smartphones have changed the way we work, play and shop. If a website does not cater to mobile or tablet users, it ultimately ignores a significant proportion of people.

Additionally, if your business is using social media as part of its marketing strategy, a lot of the incoming traffic will be accessing your website through mobile devices. So, if you want to improve your click-through-rate and general social browsing, your mobile friendliness should be well thought out.

Google Loves Mobile

Google prefers sites that are fully optimized for mobile platforms. Mobile friendly websites rank better in Google compared to websites which aren’t mobile friendly.  And if you’re ranking higher, the ability to find you through a search engine is a lot easier. In short – If you do not have a mobile friendly website, you’re most probably being penalized in Google’s search rankings. That in turn means less traffic and less new customers.

It’s clear that both consumers and Google are placing an increasing emphasis on mobile devices. Don’t get left behind. Check your site and take appropriate action.  Give us a call today!
