Your website is a living entity on the internet, which is why a good SEO strategy is crucial to your site. Every update you make plays a part in visitor and customer interactions as well as with powerful search engines. A static website, a site without any updates of any kind, can be considered “dead” by many search engines. However, this can be avoided by updating your website often with high-quality content and is one of many reasons why you should update your website’s content. The following are additional reasons to update the content on your site.

Frequent Indexing
Fresh content means frequent indexing. Frequent indexing does not necessarily mean that you will have higher index rankings. It means that the more frequently you update your website with new content, such as articles and web pages, the more frequently search engines will visit your site. This provides your website the opportunity to achieve a higher ranking based on the quality of content you provide.

Search engines use web crawlers, simple high tech programs that scan the internet for websites, which index a site based on a number of factors determined by the search engine company. For instance, a site may be indexed based on a combination of incoming links to the site, the type and number of keywords used, and how often the site is updated. In this instance every time you make an update to your site, the search engine takes notice and rearranges your index ranking. It’s important to keep in mind not just to add more content, but to add high-quality content. If you add pages with low-quality articles stuffed with keywords, you are bound to get penalized.

Google Searches for Updates
The Googlebot constantly searches for web pages that are new or updated and adds the content to the Google index. This doesn’t mean that you need to update your website every hour of every day but should update your site at least 2 or 3 times a week to be considered a “frequently updated site”. If you update your content with valuable information, you have a better chance of ranking higher in Google’s index with each update. The most effective way to do this is by adding a blog to your site with articles that will get noticed by your viewers. Moreover, if your viewers are commenting on those articles, those count as updates as well. So be sure to write something that catches your audience’s attention.

More Keywords
Keywords are essential to frequently added content, such as blogs, and provide you the opportunity to optimize your page. Each time you add a new blog with valuable keywords, you are helping search engines recognize that your website is a place searchers can go for specific needs. When Google and other search engines look at your updated content, they are not looking for content overloaded with keywords, but for high-quality content. Although keywords should be an important part of your SEO strategy, they should not be hyper-focused in your articles. The key is to create quality content that has your keyword within it as naturally as possible. The most effective way to accomplish this is by writing content that answers readers’ questions, instructs how to accomplish a task, or provides quality information. Meta Tags, Title Tags, and descriptions are a better focus for your keywords; your content is better suited for a more organic state.

Regularly updating your website with new content not only will put you in good standing with Google but will gain you appreciation and loyalty from your visitors and help grow your business in the long run.
